Imagine having your own private ďBugeye coachĒ
as you search for a great example... now, you can learn all you need to know
before you go shopping... with this fun and entertaining DVD!
Iím David Silberkleit. Since 1979, Iíve owned the Bugeye
featured on these pages. Iíve kept this wonderful vehicle because every year
there are fewer and fewer on the road and each year it just gets more special.
After almost 30 years of marriage with this car, Iíve learned a thing or two
about their proper care and feeding. In fact, Iíve disassembled and rebuilt
just about every square inch of this vehicle... I know Bugeyes inside and out...
and I know how to do them right. On this new 60 - minute DVD, Iíll show you
what to watch out for if you are shopping for a used Sprite so you can maximize
your enjoyment and minimize your expense. While these are simple cars, if you
don't know what you are looking for, you can get badly burned by a Sprite that
would be better put out to pasture. Remember, these cars were made almost 50
years ago. Many have rusted. Others have been poorly restored by amateurs. I've
created this DVD so that you can learn what to watch out for so that you don't
up with a used car disaster!
Weíll walk through every inch of the vehicle... Iíll show
you rust vulnerabilities... structural vulnerabilities, mechanical upgrades and
drivability secrets so you can enjoy your new Bugeye in a wide range of
conditions. And by the way, the photo above shows the battery tray on a friend's
Bugeye. The long oval hole is for warm air from the heater box (removed) and the
rust hole is to the left of the top of this hole. The hole would normally be
concealed by the heater box and battery and this is a very common place for
Bugeyes to rust. Nothing too serious and a very easy fix, especially with a
small hole like this one. But you'll want to make sure this tray isn't
completely gone on your new Bugeye... otherwise the battery might just end up on
Hereís an excerpt from ďSo
youíre thinking of buying a Bugeye Sprite?Ēthat
describes a problem that can be much more serious:
And thatís just the beginning... I cover every square inch
in this DVD program. For example:
Do you know what to watch out for if you upgrade to front disk brakes?
Do you know which portion of the Bugeye, if rusted, makes a Bugeye useful only as an anchor for a small boat?
Do you know which engine you should have in your classic?
Do you know how to make a Bugeye weather tight?... Keep it
in the garage on a rainy day! (just kidding, the top and side curtains work
reasonably well if you install them properly... Iíll show you how)
On this new DVD,I answer these questions and more!
We walk through correct interior set- up. Switches,
gauges, seats, spare tire & jack, carpeting and every little detail to make
your car fun, safe and correctly restored so that it looks like it did when it
rolled out of the factory. Iíll also review all the mechanicals with you... carburetion, engine size, transmission options, rear end ratios... itís all
Iíll also show you safety improvements (field tested on my car)
as well as the secrets of making your Bugeye into a functional highway cruiser.
In fact, hereís a clip the shows one of my favorite Bugeye
secrets that might even save your life!
